Dear Teachers and Parents Thank you for your interest in Rockin Phonics. As an educator, I personally can attest that I have had very rewarding experiences and results from using the Rockin Phonics songs as the base or support program in the teaching of English sounds. This program definitely grabs student's attention and will enable you to advance your students to higher learning in a very short time.
The latest educational research shows how regular physical movement increases attention span and helps the brain learn new information. The catchy lyrics accompanied by the upbeat music of Rockin Phonics appeal strongly to the children's imagination and kinaesthetic sense and they will sing and dance to them over and over again until the lyrics and phoneme sounds are memorized. Children will easily recall and retain the sounds of each letter while they are having fun giving them the confidence to speak and read.
The Rockin Phonics programme is highly recommended for teaching literacy in a school or home school environment and is an ideal learning tool for children between the ages of 3 to 9 years of age. It's multi-sensory elements also benefit special needs learners. Children with delay in language development (apraxia) children with autism, ADD, ADHD or any other developmental delay will benefit from the program's visual, kinesthetic (body movement), auditory and tactile elements which provide multiple channels of learning into the brain.
I have found the best approach is to allow my students to walk around, dance, sing, draw on the white board, colour or write, whatever their imaginations conjure! The use of movement and action association helps students with instant recall. For example, for the song Naughty Norman, the students sway their pointed index finger left to right while singing "n,n,n, Naughty Norman".
Incorporate percussion instruments, whenever possible. Home made shakers, maracas, castanets, tambourines or small drums have always been enormous hits in my classes.
Wherever possible, use organic instruments. The acoustic guitar has been one of my best resources... it's a child magnet. Flip it over and let the kids hit the back like a drum or let them take turns strumming. Piano and guitar chords of all the songs are available with each purchase of the Rockin Phonics program.
